About this deal

The Krytox™ GPL 29X greases have extreme pressure and anti-corrosion additives and have been formulated for applications needing high load-carrying capacity and anti-corrosion protection. The Krytox™ GPL 22X series contains sodium nitrite corrosion an anti-wear inhibitor; it also improves load-carrying performance and is ideal for corrosive environments. Typical applications are automotive bearings, sealed pump bearings, electric motor bearings, and general-purpose bearings. Krytox™ fluorinated oils are a series of low molecular weight, fluorine end-capped, homopolymers of hexafluoropropylene epoxide. The polymer chain is completely saturated and contains only carbon, oxygen, and fluorine; hydrogen is not present. Krytox™ Performance Lubricants Applications Independently tested and confirmed for LOX and GOX use by major oxygen manufacturers and test authorities, including BAM. Although chemically stable and non-hazardous, wear gloves and place a protective layer on your working surface. Spills are difficult to clean, and the lubricant will transfer from an operators hands to any surface they may touch.

The Krytox™ GPL 21X series contains molybdenum disulfide for extreme pressure (EP) conditions and should be used for slow speed or heavily loaded applications.Let’s start with why we lube switches. Often a switch will come prelubed from the factory but only with a small amount that is sloppily applied to the stem legs. This may be all fine and well for the uninitiated but if we’re going to take the time to build a custom board we may as well do it right. A lower viscosity lubricant is kind of like finishing the wood with oil whereas the higher viscosity is like painting over the wood. When lubing many switches at a time, you might want to gather all your springs and a pea size dollop of Krytox 205 grade 0 in a container or an inflated baggy. Then shake real good for a couple minutes--it's called bag-lubing and will evenly coat your springs with Krytox 205 grade 0. The thing to remember is that evenness is the name of the game when lubricating your switches with 205 grade 0. It's always easier to add lube than to remove lube, so don't hesitate to experiment with different amounts of 205g0 on a few of your switches to find out what you like best. Once you've found out, rinse and repeat, consistently. Tips on Using Krytox 205 Grade 0 effectively Krytox™ lubricants have become the product of choice for a wide range of applications, where extremely high- or low-temperature performance, nonflammability, longevity, oxygen compatibility, and resistance to aggressive chemicals are required.

Yeah 204g0 and 3204 are technically the same but tribosys/miller chemical has a better rep than dupoint DuPont only manufactures Krytox in China, and has not manufactured any Krytox products in the United States in decades. I cannot say if it is the same [as Miller-Stephenson] or not, but I can say if it is crossing markets it is definitely gray market, which is generally not allowed, or very very old. In general, one should consider "less is more" when lubing with 205g0. Over application of the grease will cause poor sound and typing feel on switches.

Don’t overthink it. I believe many of us get caught up in the right or wrongs inherent of this community but a lot of it is really subtle differences that quite frankly you might not notice when typing daily. I’m all for paying attention to the details (hence my own journey into the lube world) but don’t feel obligated to use this or that just because so and so says so. Honestly, it’s pretty hard to screw this up so long as you’re using one of the above mentioned lubricants.
