About this deal

And it is through the delight and escapism bestowed by reading great books that she feels this further. Viv caught him watching her devour the food from the other end of the bar and tried to slow down, but the potatoes were salty and rich with the egg, and it was hard not to shovel it in without pausing. The stories from the borrowed books ties perfectly into the novel with foreshadowing and self discovery. This book left me with such a warm, happy, comfortable feeling, which you don't always expect from a book with orcs, necromancers, skeletons and mercenaries, but that is the wonderful thing about this series.

It was hard to enjoy because the characters involved are so lovable and earnest and honest its hard not to reserve a little judgement. It does the impossible: showing us a character twenty years before her story, and making us hold our breath to see what happens next. The innocent joy of Viv and Fern’s love is delightful and Baldree’s formula of placing low-stakes stories in high-fantasy settings remains good fun. Here we meet a loving and lively cast of characters, all with their own interesting lives and stories. With its mysterious encounters, summer flings and a growing number of skeletons, Baldree’s fantastical novel is the perfect cozy romp. When an injury throws a young, battle-hungry orc off her chosen path, she may find that what we need isn't always what we seek. The thought of hobbling her way around a little of the town was a lot more attractive than it had been a few minutes ago. Even though she is sullen and grumpy because her injury left her out of commission, she still makes the most of it. and sometimes, if we are lucky enough, a door of friendship that seemed to be behind a locked door, can open once again, along with new joy and new adventures. Unfortunately, I only somewhat enjoyed the first half of this prequel, and once it hit about the halfway point, I stopped being even remotely compelled to continue.

Thank you Macmillan Audio for providing me with a complementary audiobook in exchange for my honest thoughts. A suspicious traveller in grey, a gnome with a chip on her shoulder, a summer fling and an improbable number of skeletons prove Murk to be more eventful than Viv could have ever expected.and if we do decide to close that door and lock it, it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the moment of living inside that room for a tiny bit of your life - and that doesn’t make anything lesser, or greater, but it can create happiness and memories that you really can take with you during every adventure in life. I don't know if I can explain it, but watching you read what I give you, putting a book in your hands and seeing what happens to you once you put it back down . Viv might’ve been bedbound for two days, in and out of consciousness, a muddle of circular dreams and throbbing agony.
