About this deal

They are mostly comfortable, but yes, they can get sticky, especially when you try to clean the handles off, as they pick up dyes from the darker yarns and quickly look dirty.

I enjoy changing it up because I think it’s healthy for my wrists to change the grip and movement every now and then. As to why I keep trying, it’s because the yarn going ’round fingers on my right hand causes endless twisting, and with some I have to stop and re-wind !

Now I have to get to grips with having half my pattern books in UK terminology and the other half with USA instructions! It’s a weird combo, bamboo/wood hooks feel too big in my little hand, although they usually are quite long. Admittedly, I did it again where I had trouble inserting the hook because I opted not to use a dab of soap (like it totally says to in the instructions, lol). Plus I know next to nothing about casting silicone, so it could be an unavoidable part of the process. There are may different scales for sizing crochet hook and you can find a chart comparing the different global crochet hook size terminology used here.

You bring uniqueness to hook choice, so something else to consider is the hook to hand size comparison. Soft grip hooks are coated with a rubber handle to help you to keep control of your crochet without putting too much pressure on your fingers. To enjoy all that Hobbycraft has to offer, please enable cookies or check whether another programme is blocking them.I’ve always wondered how accurate the sizing is on crochet hooks and whether there was a difference in different materials and styles.

In a knife grip, the hook is held firmly like a dinner knife, whereas, in a pencil grip, the hook is held with more precision as you would a writing instrument. i did see on their listing that you can cut off your favorite hook and use it in the egg, which would work better for me because i personally like that exact type of gray susan bates hook that you showed in the photo. Each grip affects tension and control differently and the choice depends on your personal comfort and preference. However, that’s just my experience and I actually think this grip would be great if you hold your hook like a pencil. These are just a few examples of how your hook choice interacts with what project and yarn you’re working with.
