About this deal

The new discs travel greater distances than the darts, the mechanism for firing is easier on young hands, and the first wave of guns are fun to use. I'm planning on getting something from the Vortex series on Saturday, so I can start designing a mold then. While this is meant to be an indoor toy, it may be better to take it out on a nice day, set it on a wood board, and get the full height possible. You have to hold down the bottom button to spin up the firing mechanism, and if you hold down the traditional trigger with that bottom button held down, you fire the discs. My eight-year old has tried squeezing as many discs as possible into it without really causing any damage to the gun so that he could fire multiple discs in one go.

The Vortex guns aren't even officially released yet, and the community is already making home-made ammo. These discs actually catch the air and can fly significantly longer, though if you don't hold the blasters level you may see the discs bank after a few dozen feet.Above, you can see the four guns we're going to review, and we will render a verdict on each one individually.

I learned this by lining my kids up and shooting them at different ranges to see whether or not the discs hurt. Let HaazLabs get you the piece you need to complete your outfit or just have around the home or office! And the power transistor on the board certainly isn’t built for running our aftermarket hobby motors, so I’ll need a relay to let me just dump power straight from the battery to the flywheel motor. Lighter discs might have greater velocity; but most of that would probably be lost due to air resistance. My discs fly best with no extra hot glue, but if yours curve to the left consistently it might be a bit too light. The bumper heads were a hemispherical mold, and the washer had exposed edges and was not consistently centered.

Now a golf ball might work better, but then there's our problem - has Nerf already found the golf ball for us? Actually didn't need to use this in my current version of disc-making, but just throwing this out there as a possible mold material. Mine are dead ends - the bumper heads because the exposed washer edges, and the nutheads because they're still chunks of hot glue, and aren't as safe as slugs, or as MHA's RTV heads. To enable personalized advertising (like interest-based ads), we may share your data with our marketing and advertising partners using cookies and other technologies.
