I loved this book so freaking good, a breath of fresh air that had me laughing out loud and swooning between pages.

This book has an excerpt for the next book, which is about Mariel's BFF so I'm certain this couple will also feature heavily in the next book.Also, the writing felt juvenile sometimes because the author was trying so hard to incorporate pop culture/dad jokes. When a spell to summon flour goes very wrong, Mariel finds herself staring down a demon – one she inadvertently summoned for a soul bargain. I generally adore paranormal romcoms that are set in a modern world and this one is a great example! It was just a big shame because this story was perfect, it had a good premise, a balance of humour and seriousness, a plot that drove the story ans then doom, it was all shattered. Suddenly, the two are reluctant roommates and at risk of losing not only her soul, but her magic as well, Mariel must resist her resident demon-plane cowboy.

A rollicking romantic comedy featuring a witch who'd rather be baking than casting spells and the sexy demon she summons by mistake, Hawley's page-turning treat takes the fake dating trope to a whole new level. She was always insulting and demeaning Oz, even though I didn't see anything that he did that would warrant this kind of behavior from her.

So funny and just so sweet and the magical world we were brought into is honest to god my new favourite place !

I cared more about their relationship than the external plot, but I appreciated the witchy vibe nonetheless.

Mariel then ups the magical mishaps when she tries to use magic to summon an ingredient for cooking and accidentally summons a demon, Ozroth (H). But Ozroth has a limited amount of time to strike the deal, and if Mariel gives up her soul, she’ll lose all her emotions—including love—which will only spell disaster for them both. The author infused the right amount of romance, humor, creative twists, and some suspense to move the story at a good pace and keep it entertaining. I felt so much sympathy for Mariel (h) that her family was powerful and therefore so much was expected from her, but she struggled hard with her magic.
