Nightwing: Year One is a storyline written by Chuck Dixon and Scott Beatty, with art by Scott McDaniel. It had its moments every now and then where you can just look at a single panel for a good long time because the craft they put in it, but the panel next to it looks like garbage. Why the name; why the costume design; why continue to fight crime; why go back to Gotham (originally, he just went there to give Jason Robin; he was committed to the New Teen Titans, not to helping out in Gotham). And it's a nice touch that, like Ma Kent, Alfred still made Dick's first Nightwing costume, even after he's left the 'Cave.

Unable to avoid fighting crime, the man Grayson begins a new odyssey donning a new uniform and a new name.It was nice seeing Dick break away and become his own person, I think his story is relatable to almost everyone who comes to the point in their lives where they break away from their parents and come into their own. Artwork was good and I really loved Dragon ball style character designs, all the characters has very cool and stylish design, specially Superman!

Unfortunately those early days of him being Nightwing are largely covered in Titans’ related books, and, it did not really address the time period immediately leaving the Batcave and emerging as Nightwing, in any real depth.
