About this deal

I would just like to know what things are and then take it from there once I really know and have seen what must be avoided. Meticulously chosen, each book in this distinguished collection offers an immersive odyssey, guiding you through the intricate tapestry of foraging. Our first foraging book is exactly what we wish we had when we started out on our foraging journey and we hope that it will encourage you to discover the wonderful bounty of free food growing all around us. The ratings/reviews displayed here may not be representative of every listing on this page, or of every review for these listings.

Discover the edible seasonal delights of the UK's countryside with this handy, practical field guide. Here is our pick of the best foraging courses from across Britain to help you learn the skills you need to get started safely. Join us in delving into the basics of responsible foraging, enriching your connection with nature, and savoring the delicious rewards that lie within arm's reach. The book features recipes for food, remedies, drinks and preserves, ensuring that every part of the plant is utilized to its fullest potential.Author and photographer Adele Nozedar focuses on some of the more unusual flora and recipes on offer within our hedgerows, and includes handy images for guidance. I can’t recommend this book enough and I can see myself holding on to this book for a long time as I level up in the foraging world! There are over 500 high quality photos, simple descriptions and easy techniques to help you identify these tasty wild edibles for yourselves.

As a beginner I will use this book to go out and identify things in the field before I pick anything. While it’s not a fully comprehensive list, it should provide a great starting point for anyone interested in wild food.

As someone who is largely interested in plants this book is still a good one to have and reference but would not make an ideal field guide in terms of size and the amount of plants it holds. The Forager's Calendar: A Seasonal Guide to Nature's Wild Harvests" by John Wright is highly regarded as one of the best books for identifying and foraging edible plants in the UK. Home to countless animals, insects and plants, hedges are hugely important to the natural ecosystem in the UK, and the opportunity for foragers is enormous.

To round out the experience, the author provides a selection of simple and delicious recipes, highlighting the diverse flavours of the plants he found.

Delve into the rich tapestry of the British outdoors and elevate your foraging adventures with the wisdom found within these pages. It's a good idea to also explore other well-reviewed options, such as "Food for Free" by Richard Mabey (Collins Gem). Since they began in 2012 they have taught more than 10,000 people how to forage safely and with confidence.
