My first run in them was somewhat plagued by my feet slipping around within the shoe as I contoured, but up and downhill was fine. If you’re looking for a plush deep midsole, look elsewhere, but remember, if that’s your criteria, are you really looking for an off trail shoe. We stretch our legs on roads, trail and especially fell – you’ll find us running in Mayfair and the mountains!

When up on the toes enough grip is available to generate forward momentum on wet grass and rock, the upper is supportive on the foot. We’d recommend looking at the size guide which shows the approximate length of each size’s insole in centimetres. Having seen them about, I waited until my current 333's were on their last legs before going to Pete Blands to try a pair on, and get them on my feet. Thanks to its new flatter heel, it can cope with hard-packed and road sections more comfortably and with greater stability than ever before. A good choice as a racing shoe for intermediate runners and as a training shoe for more advanced runners. Depending on your experience, preferred distance and ability, the Mudclaw 300 is a perfect training shoe that will keep you happy for many a run.
